Wayne “Skip” Kadar is a retired educator having taught and served as high School principal in the Harbor Beach Community School District. As a youth he spent time along the Detroit River and developed a love of the Great Lakes and the ships that sailed them.

Skip fondly remembers his dad taking him to watch the launch of the Edmund Fitzgerald. This led to him researching and writing several books about Great Lakes ships, lighthouses, and shipwrecks.

Another interest of his is true crime, and he has penned several crime books, including a best seller about serial killers of the Great Lakes region. In keeping with his passion for history, he is a volunteer with the Harbor Beach Lighthouse Preservation Society.

Kadar lives in Harbor Beach with his wife, Karen, and enjoys spending time at the family cottage in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula.
