DON’T LET THE SQUIRRELS STEAL YOUR ACORNS
by Tony Taton
The above words are an old saying in the South-land. It means don’t let anyone steal your dreams. Have faith in your ability to make them come true and work hard, and it will happen.
An old successful triangle contains three letters: C for conceive, B for believe and A for achieve. In other words, you conceive the plan, you believe in your plan and you work to achieve your plan. If you get discouraged or fail, do like the song says: Pick yourself up, dust yourself off and start all over again.
It only took Thomas Edison 5,000 experiments before he got the light bulb to work. He persisted until he did it right. Andrew Carnegie began with a dream as a poor Scottish immigrant working for only two cents an hour. He never quit dreaming, however, and he became very wealthy. He gave $38.5 million to charity in the course of his life.
Keeping your goal in sight at all times will get your goal accomplished. Since the September 11 attack, each time our President has spoken to our nation’s people, you have heard him say over and over that “we will keep and resolve,” and “we will bring the terrorists to justice.” He is very firm and positive and states that we will do so with the support of our own resolve.
People who are dedicated to an issue or goal never quit. To quote another old song: “Winners never quit and quitters never win.”
During the darkest days of the London Blitz, when the German Luftwaffen was bombing London each day, the Prime Minister of Britain encouraged the people by walking among them, urging them to “never, never, quit, never surrender, never give up.”
It is very important to understand that, because there are more negative people, there will be more negative comments made than positive. So steel your mind against those negatives and listen to the positives.
As the Bible says, seek, knock and ask, and the door will be opened, you will find, and it shall be answered. Remember Moses kept his dream alive for 40 years as he guided his people out of bondage in Egypt, as the Lord led them to the promised land. Keep your dream in mind. Keep the faith. Work toward your goal. Don’t let anyone discourage you with negative words. Do these things and you will reach your goal.
One last thought…write down your dream, your goal, and post it somewhere in your home, so that you will see it each day until you reach the goal line. This keeps the desired result constantly in mind. Mind over matter works. Hold fast to your dreams.
